    Default Boxee fails to launch

I installed Boxee on my Windows 7 machine and when launched it fails to display anything. Once launched my mouse disappears, like boxee is trying to draw, but I continue to see my desktop. To regain control of my system I hit the Win key to get the taskbar to come up so I can close Boxee. I'm not sure how to effectively describe the issue other than Boxee launches but never refreshes the screen.

I have tried running it at other screen resolutions but nothing helps. I have also tried running it in various Windows compatibility modes as well as updating my video drivers. Anyone have any ideas for solving this?

    System specs:
    Windows 7 RC1 64-bit
d945gclf2 (Intel's dual core Atom board)

    Thanks,
    Tim

I'm thinking that it could quite possible be that the graphics driver that you are using is not supportive of OpenGL 1.4. Try looking for a more up to date driver, and if that doesn't work, contact the support team at support.boxee.tv

    Thanks!

I thought the Windows version was running DirectX now. I already had the latest driver so I downloaded GLview to see if openGL 1.4 was support and it is. However, I noticed that DirectX was using a 2007 build. I have since updated DirectX but still have the same issues.

The Boxee Beta uses DirectX. Were you accepted into the Beta early invite?

@TimJC which version of Boxee are you trying to install? Can you post more info on your hardware?

    Default Same Problem

I have the exact same problem, running windows 7 64 bit. Uses the GMA 950 video, 945GZ chipset.

The interesting thing is that it worked the first time I ran it, then I was doing some other stuff, rebooted and then it did not work anymore.

It does seem like a driver/ opengl issue.

    Default Solved

It looks like the issue might have been OpenGL issues with the drivers. Gizmodo just reported that the beta, which uses DirectX instead of OpenGL, has been leaked. I have successfully installed it and everything is working. However, I haven't rebooted yet, and some have mentioned issues with it not working after a reboot.
