    Default Canada??

    Hello,

Just recently downloaded boxee after reading how great it is. Love the concept and UI, however as a Canadian I am wondering what are the benefits? It seems that almost all the content is only available to those in the US. If someone could let me know if there are options for Canadians, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ralphman

Check the available apps in the App Box, there are definitely some that are specific to Canadian content (stuff we in the US can't access). You might also want to add Fuzzgtp's "all in one" repository to Boxee, it will give you access to the larger world of third party apps out there, some of which must have Candian content:

Good suggestion, Cogadh. And there are several CA apps out now.

Another thought... And this applies to anyone outside the USA using Boxee or not.

Available content in your country is not a Boxee issue. It's a content provider and application issue within your own region. The content providers in your own country must first make Internet accessible content available. Such as in the USA with - Hulu, CBS, NBC, FOX, and many other cable channels have done. Then people in your region have to make apps for that specific content so it can run inside Boxee. So, app builders in the UK, Canada or where-ever, have to make the apps for you to use.

So, this is a two pronged issue that must be solved locally first.

You could always try a VPN too. This would give you access to all apps wherever their original location is.

thanks for the tip.. i had just finished looking into all of that and already setup hotspotshield and was able to view more content again. im guessing that its still blocked by hulu so i havent tried that again.. but fox, comedy, and a few others are working great!
