Is Boxee a commercial venture using aspects of Open Source (XBMX) or entirely a Open source project. If somebody could clarify this for me I would be most grateful.

hi dan, boxee is a commercial company, using xbmc f/oss and working closely with team-xbmc.
we do release our code as well (so effectively an open source project), and contribute directly & continuosly boxee specific features to xbmc code based on what team-xbmc wants us to.

Is the overall goal going to be to sell boxee or are you guys thinking about alternative revenue streams?
Hi tsella,
Is it possible to make the source for libBoxee available? I am currently looking into building the sources for a 64-bit hardy system, but without the sources of your libraries this won't be possible:
/usr/bin/ld: i386 architecture of input file `xbmc/lib/libBoxee/libBoxee.a(boxee.o)' is incompatible with i386:x86-64 output
Thanks,
Johannes
@johannes, we'll try to include an x86-64 binary with next source tree.

Too bad the project isn't completely open source (yet?). The effort you are putting in the improvement of xbmc is greatly appreciated though.
well, in order to be able to provide users with some of the things that are coming to boxee, that is not really an option (would love it to be otherwise. f/oss is very much running in my veins). but as you can see, we are keeping everything but it open.
on the note of improvements - thank you very much! team-xbmc has been doing and is doing an amazing work, and we're helping any way we can. xbmc has been a lifechanger (especially with doing boxee) for me and my peers. and we all have the benefit of doing something we love and passionate about.
