Default safe ejection of ex. hd from atv

hi guys ,i have a toshiba 320 ex. hd that doesnt have an on/off switch and it's attach to my enabled usb atv, is there a way to safely remove or eject the hard drive ? even when i put the atv to sleep ,the ex. hard drive's blue led light is still on. is it safe to just pull it out without damaging or corrupting the files? any advice or suggestions could help ,thanks.

while i don't own an atv, i can say this:
the atv was not designed with external devices in mind. i would recommend turning off the atv entirely, if you are extremely concerned with file corruption.

me personally? i would just disconnect the sob, when not in use.

i run boxee 0.9.20 on: ubuntu 9.10, windows xp sp3 (virtual machine), windows 7 and a neuros link hacked to all hell.

what super powers does a 'super mod' have? the 'super ban'... that, and laser vision.

thanks AL ,i'll give that a try and see if it works ,the good news is i only have 5 movies saved in my ex. hd so if the disconnection ends up corrupting the files,it won't be a total lost
