Got Boxee installed, can't update or launch it

Thank you in advance for any help.

I recently purchased a 1st Generation AppleTV from a friend and was excited to come home and install Boxee. However, I only have a choice of resetting back to AppleTV 1.0 or fully updating to AppleTV 2.4.

After creating the patchstick and installing Boxee and XMBC onto my ATV, with my screen looking the same as in the online videos, I went to "Update" under Boxee and this is where I get stuck. Instead of having various update options, I only have the Launcher, and when I click it, the screen goes black for a second and then returns to the Update page.

Did I do something wrong along the way, or is my problem something deeper than that? It seems as if I'm about 99% there, but can't get Boxee to update and then run. Please please please help a brotha out.

Sounds like you got things going as it should.

Do you show an update for Launcher say: 2.0 or lower? I have ATV 2.3 and the stick I made had Launcher .....mmmm 2.? I installed that then reboot. Then Launcher 3.0 showed up. Installed that and rebooted.

If you are only seeing 3.0 and it won't install or will not show the Boxee and XBMC install links above the Launcher link, then I"m not sure what the issue is. Maybe a Mod can assist you further.

I want to clarify exactly what's going on in hopes of finding an answer here.

Following the patchstick and the loading of XMBC/Boxee onto my AppleTV, I am stuck at trying to get the launcher up and running. When I go to the "Boxee" option and choose Update, the only thing in the Update screen is this:
XMBC/Boxee Launcher 0.6.

However, when I click on it to run the Launcher and fully install the program, the screen goes black for a second and then just returns to the "Update" screen. It seems as if I am seeing what everyone else is seeing, I'm just not getting the Launcher going.

Anybody have an idea or suggestion as to what might be wrong? Do I need to reinstall the patchstick (it looked as if it worked correctly) or is this something else? The AppleTV connects fine to my iTunes and plays my movies, I just can't get the XMBC/Boxee programs going.

WEll, you can't get Boxee/xbmc to work until you install Launcher. Sounds like you may need a newer Patchstick installer pack.

This one is for ATV 2.2-2.3-2.4: http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/
Both a mac and Windows version is here.

You may want first to do a factory restore on ATV. Update your ATV to 2.4. Then then use this patchstick above.

If this does not solve it. I've not a clue.

My Boxee is now up and running. Looked like I was not using the most current version of USB Creator. Thank you again for the help...you were influential in the process.
