Boxee unusable due to choppy video playback

I like boxee and I want to use it but the video playback is choppy. Playing the same videos from vlc works without a hitch. Heres what I got.

2.8ghz
2gigs of ram
Mythbuntu 9.04
Nvidia GeForxe Fx Go5200 (Laptop)

Videos are stored in a nfs share thats mounted by autofs but like I said vlc plays it without a problem.

Checked for pulseaudio and it's not installed.

Cpu usage 8%-13%.
About a gig free of memory.

Also on a slower machine I can play the same videos in XBMC with no problems. So any suggestions?

The one thing I forgot to mention. Pulling up the menu stops the video stuttering.

I have the same problem. Video is slow/choppy unless I move the mouse or keyboard. The video and sound run fine even behind the OSD but as soon as the OSD or playback menu fades away the video becomes choppy.
