    Default Boxee with Ordered Chapters/MPlayer

    Hey guys,

I've noticed that nobody seems to be able to tell if or how Boxee can be run with mplayer. From my own recent testing, the video player used is way below standards in what it can handle, specifically in regard to the matroska container. Is it at all possible to have boxee use mplayer, and pass it specific commands, so as to achieve correct playback of Ordered Chapters along with properly rendered styled subtitles via libass?

I love using Boxee, but the lack of decent playback is proving to be very frustrating.

I have several video's I've ripped from DVD using ordered chapters, a method of chaptering in mkv files that allows for parts of the video to be pulled from external files and create a virtual timeline. The mkv's also have .ass subtitles. When I open them in boxee, the subtitles are rendered without any of the styling and other overrides coded into them, and the parts of the video that are in external files are completely ignored. It looks like DVDPlayer can only handle a single matroska segment in a file, and it can only read from one file at a time. I have my own builds of mplayer that work fine with uau and greg's patches respectively, but boxee just cannot play them correctly.
