    Default A suggestion

I just finished renaming all my movies in the correct format and added the folders in which they were in as sources.
The movies summed up to about 1500.... when using boxee, lets say after using apps i want to go to my local media - it takes a good minute or 2 loading up all the thumbnails and boxee slows down to snail pace - im assuming that boxee is trying to automatically scan the sources?? or boxee isnt making efficient use of my quad core?

Maybe if there was a "scan now" button - so that the user could choose when they would like the folder/all sources to be scanned
also - will timeshift navigation ever be implemented? that would be great.

another quick question - if i wanted to update the software, and performed an uninstall/install - will it keep the sources etc, or would i have to add them back again?

thanks a lot and great work boxee staff

    • Yep, boxee is trying to scan them all. Once all media is loaded however this shouldn't be the case anymore and things will load faster. Additionally boxee will use idle process time of the boxee app itself to scan/add media for you.
    • Eventually it could happen. It probably won't for a while though as right now they are really working on just getting a beta out for this fall.
    • As long as when you uninstall/install you don't tell the uninstaller (there's a checkbox for this) to remove your user profiles, you should be fine.
    Common issues w/ Boxee:
Beta Important Info | FAQ & Support Requests | Hulu Mature Content | Search

    UnBoxeed app development:
    Comics.com | ESPN360 | Weather

    thanks for the reply

as for your first point, after all media has loaded and i decide to go to apps or whatever - when i come back to local media - the same happens and it takes 2mins or so loading all the thumbnails ...as if the cache is running really slow.. It might just be a normal occurance and me being too pesimistic

This only happens every once and a while. Usually the movie thumbnails are their instantly. Occasionally they will take a minute or two to reload. I'm guessing it's because of the cache being cleared.

I have the same thing with only 100 or so movies except it doesn't take a min or two to load the thumbnails, it takes forever when scrolling down to get to the films off screen. In other words the fourth bar of films just off screen, when I push down, it skips a few seconds before it pops up. It's only been happening with the last two builds of boxee though. Even though it's been better at fetching all of my media, it's taking forever to scroll through the local movies page.

    I'm using an atv btw.
