Instant Pause

When I'm watching a video and hit the play/pause on my apple remote, while I like the controls which pop up, giving me access to next/pause/stop/etc, what I really want is for the video to pause. Having to always hit pause twice is starting to train me, so that I now often pause+restart my cable box in one action.

That said... thanks heaps for all the work on boxee. For an alpha product the number of problems I'm having so far is very encourageingly small. Great job.

you could edit lircmap.xml... but that would remove your access to the 'now playing' menu... the problem is apple's silly remote design. six buttons just aren't enough.

This is actually pretty high up on my preference list for changes to the UI as well.

I think "Instant Pause" would make a good option in the settings screen.

If enabled, hitting the Play/Pause button would pause the video while bringing up the full options menu.

I will try editing the XML file as suggested to see how it behaves.

Currently, when a video is playing, clicking the play pause button on the apple remote brings up the on screen nav system. If pause was the last function used, clicking play pause again activated pause mode. Requiring two clicks just to pause a video is counter intuitive and annoying.

Boxee should make use of click and hold functionality like Sofa Control and Front Row do. Click pause/play should always toggle the pause/play function as would be expected. Boxee could use a click and hold function on the pause play button to bring up the navigation with additional functions.

I find this is the one thing that I really don't like about the current boxee version. Two clicks just to pause is most annoying.
