Ya I did the unthinkable ......and now my beloved boxee is gone (tear) it;s been only 20 minutes but feels like a life time. What I don't understand is steve said that apple tv was a hobby nothing more, then why not allow others to tweek it to better your product . I hope that they over at apple are looking to either work with boxee and create the best thing to come to tv or stop blocking the progress. if apple thinks they are to big to fall then look at the rear view (windows) they started pulling this crap and look where it got them.

For those who want to restore back to factory and then update to 2.2 manually I've zipped up the 2.2 updage DMG and HDMI, IR and other associated firmwares along with OSupdate.

http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=xqfzbzcs5kb

You'll need to SCP these to the AppleTV.

To begin, place the OS or any other updates into /Users/frontrow/Updates on the Apple TV.

Next, copy the osupdate binary to the Apple TV. Make sure it is executable (chmod +x osupdate if necessary) and then execute it as root:
Code:
sudo ./osupdate
It will print a few lines of text, and your Apple TV should automatically reboot.

This won't touch your restore partition so you'll continue to have that to fall back on.

Default Apple TV 2.3 Update

Aaron,

What can I do if I can not ssh into Apple TV? I get a "bus error" every time I terminal and type "ssh frontrow@appletv.local"

If I can't ssh into Apple TV, I guess I can't use Boxee until you fix it with Apple TV 2.3, correct?

Jeff

Hold down - and menu until the AppleTV restarts to the restore menu. Restore it back the the factory settings. Hack it with the ATV-Patchstick with boxee on it. This will also install ssh binaries. SCP over the files and SSH in and manually update to 2.2 in addition to disabling the automatic updates by editing the /etc/hosts file.

Default Boxee alpha problems

I installed the new software. It's no problem for me to figure out how to kill the bugs. All begins are difficult for a proper working system.

On my iMac Boxee alpha works perfect.
The apple software finds automaticaly his way to operate smooth, but Boxee and XMBC are horible. But it's nice to work to a proper working Boxee.

Default Boxee installation problem ATV 2.3

1. I upgraded to 2.3 on my ATV
2. I downloaded atv-loader 1.0-b10, listed a the latest version for MAC
3. I loaded it on the patch-stick without incident.
4. I compared the file structure and it was different from that described on the download site: under the plugin folder my installation does not have BoxeeLauncher. Has something called SoftwareMenu
5. When I put in the stick, unplugged the ATV, and re-plugged it, nothing happened. The ATV ran as normal with no Boxee menu item.

What did I do wrong?
