That is correct. It's not possible to create a third-party torrent app on the boxee box because it's locked down pretty tight and it's not likely that Boxee will/can ever provide an official one given their premium content partners.

I'd suggest getting a NAS with torrent capabilities if you're looking for something different than running torrents through your computer. You'll still have to locate a .torrent file from your computer or even smartphone, and then save it to the NAS, where it will leech and seed the torrent

I find running sickbeard+sabnzbd and getting stuff from Usenet pretty simple too.
