    Default Boxee Client

Is anyone interested in developing a Boxee client (a little bit like the Plex Client) ? I am loving Boxee 1.5, and my frustration with a lack of a port to older hardware, led me to the idea that a workaround, and possibly an opportunity for other OS's would be a client app, strictly for streaming from a Boxee box, OSX Diy ver. Not sure how this can be done (yet), but I was wondering if anyone would be interested. I appreciate the downside to having to run a server (could be achieved by creating an app for boxee), but the combo of this running on the boxee box to other devices on a local network might be worth looking at.

No reason why this would not work. Ironbill, your thoughts ?

I've seen people asking for this before. I would imagine you could enable debug and syslog reporting to pass off URL's to other devices... I would guess if Navi-X was running and reporting url final destinations, these in turn could be passed off to other devices by linking the box with client apps on other OS's.

Question becomes wouldn't it be better to just expand on this via Boxee Media Manager?

Maybe I'm not understanding where you are going with this Nuggy.

Im actually thinking about being able to "stream" a source (video or audio) a bit like airplay or similar from a Boxee box to another device through a client app. Exactly like BMM, but for the ATV (I guess). I was intrigued by the project by Sam N with an Ubuntu/XBMC lite version. This could also be a legitimate project for the atv 2nd gen (assuming it doesnt already exist).

At this time, just an idea. Looking for thoughts and ideas from others. I have had some success with a mac based vnc app I built, but the latency is crappy, but I know it can work, just not the way I was doing it.

After speaking with a few people off line, I think a project would center around using the boxee box as a hub for other devices (not just for media), almost like a sling player. BMM is great, but I was thinking more of being able to share any boxee content on another device within a local network. 2 projects I guess. If anyones interested in getting involved let me know, otherwise I will post a link to whatever we come up with.

Would it be possible to develop a Boxee-type frontend for Crystalbuntu XBMC?

No, but we are looking at porting the open source to hardy, which could become interesting for crystalbuntu. If it ever comes to anything Ill PM you.
