    Default Boxeebox with no Internet

So I'm moving this weekend and my new Internet hook up will not be until next Tuesday. My new TV will be delivered on Sat, though, and I use boxeebox 90% for local media viewing. So if I hooked up my network and my NAS and stuff, I'm assuming that I can still use boxee even if it can't connect to my account? I am assuming I will just have to use the files option to browse my media since my imdb metadata will be unavailable since the boxeebox is incapable of storing that locally?

You could easily preview what it'll be like in advance by removing the Boxee network connection... now.

Except then I would have no media to browse at all since my media is on a NAS.

Hrm... maybe point the Box to a non-existent proxy? Remove your Internet connection? Hook up the NAS and Boxee Box to a switch without Internet?

Yes of course I could do all those things, but I was just curious if someone else had used boxee without an active Internet connection and could just quickly tell me what to expect. I am at work right now and have no access to my boxeebox, so I thought I would just ask on the forum. Silly me...

Once the Boxee Box has been initially set up, it will work without an Internet connection - it will simply warn you that some features will not be available without a connection and ask you if you want to carry on anyway.
The Boxee Box keeps a permanent cache of the meta data for movies and TV shows so, providing you set up the network to be identical to how it was previously set up, the Movies and TV Shows options should still be accessible.
However, I believe you will lose the thumbnail images in Movies and TV shows as these are only cached temporarily and the cache is cleared when the box is restarted. You can avoid this for movies if you use local TBN or folder.jpg files to store the thumbnails for the movies (I don't believe this yet works for TV shows).

    Thank-you.
