Which means it's likely to never happen again, as Adobe drastically changes it's business model in the face of HTML5.

Wouldn't it make more sense for Boxee (and Dlink) to get behind the Gnash project, and build an alternative way for users to view otherwise-public files?

This way, they can at least take matters into their own hands and do something to keep current users happy while appearing to have at least a little bit of forethought.
I can't really see Adobe getting their noses too bent out of joint from this, since they are desperately trying to escape the Flash boondoggle anyway, and this would just save them some effort. If anything, Adobe should put Flash into the public domain now. It might actually save the platform.
