I can't access my internal 2tb HDD locally, when go to files/my movies it says it can't access it and when i try access the folders on my PC it says it can't access it either.

Its looking like the internal drive has been corrupted, it happened when i was transferring files over the network, it stated that internal memory was full (which it isn't) so i canceled the process and tried to start again but could not access the HDD.

I tried a factory reset but that only resets the software/firmware not the internal drive, does anyone know how to format the internal drive.

i understand not many people on here have the iomega but any suggestions would be appreciated.

in summary the boxee box itself seems fine, the internal memory and all my files are currently inaccessible either through the network or on the boxee box itself.

Hey there, my first time here.

I finally found a way for me makin me happy with the way presenting my Movie/TV-shows on my Box after a long period of testing and trying.
Being a bit frustraded of Samba, i took basically that road:

- Hanewin NFS server on my win7 x64
- Mediacenter Master to setup my Library

(like described here: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=54094)

looks great, pretty fast, no lags at all even in full HD and dolby ... im fukn happy ... except for .... :

Im not able to RESCAN my NFS sourses ... Box just doesnt do it. I can click "rescan" as often as i want to and wait as long as i want to, nothing happens.
Only way what to do after adding a new Movie on my PC: DELETE the whole NFS source on Box, delete all MediaCookies and set it up again ... and even after that there are randomly missing some movies ... and always different ones ... seems like Box haveing troubles while the "identifieng" progress ...

... well ... so close and yet so far away ....

this is, to say the least, pretty frustratin ....

what am i doin wrong?

cheers

Well, I preordered my Boxee Box once upon a time, and was proud to have the first batch. However, as support deteriorated into nothing, and now even my local media is beginning to lock up, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and put the Boxee Box out to pasture.

In its place I decided to build an Mini-ITX HTPC running XBMC. My parts are listed below:

Not a bad little machine for a little over $400. Definitely worth the price for those looking to make a new source of playing media. You could probably even whittle down the price to < $200 if you tried. Mine is only that high because I added a little more juice to it so I could do some casual gaming via emulators and Steam Big Picture. I will likely add a standalone video card, and switch to 2 x 4gb of DDR3-1866mhz memory down the road due to my Wii emulator needing a bit more power behind it, but to replicate all the features of the Boxee Box and then some, this works beautifully.

Anyways, just wanted to drop some info about my build here, and show that for not much money, you can make a very nice Boxee Box replacement that has even more features. Updated flash, Working Hulu, 8 and 10Bit MKVs, and you can even download a Boxee look-alike skin for XBMC if you're attached to the Boxee layout.

Hope you found this interesting, let me know if you have any questions.

Anyone heard anything since February? The last blog post sounded like they were making some headway. Slow, but it's been three months since then and no word.

Should we assume that it is no longer happening?

Also, two other issues that I've noticed recently. CBS shows are no longer being updated so I guess the content aggregator is no longer being maintained. The boxee servers have been very unreliable lately too which is unfortunate as it blocks Netflix when they cannot be accessed.

Are we at the end of the useful life of the Boxee Box?

I would like to get some tips or pointers on how to go about parsing any information from this add-on.

I would like some help on where the information for each video feed for each channel would be within the code.

That could really help me out to create the app.

I will read the information on here for creating the app itself for boxee, I just want some assitance with parsing the channel info from the XBMC app.
Thanks

Resolution Change after Receiver Turned Off and back On again - Asustor 604T

All,

All,

hope you can help me with this one:

Recently purchased an Asustor NAS AS-640T which partially is supposed to also server as a media serving front-end and comes with Boxee.

The Asustor is connected via HDMI to my Denon AV Receiver and from there to my LG TV (same issue ocurrs if I switch the output to go to my Panny PT-AT6000). Boxee runs quite happily on this NAS without any issues whatsoever, except for one that does render it unfortunately unusable:

When I turn of my TV and subsequently the Denon (I guess we can assume it is not intended that the NAS will also be turned off, which it never will be) and at a later stage turn the Denon and TV back on, Boxee has automatically switched resolution back to 480 and doesnt get back to the 1080p that it used to run at. Only solution seems to reboot the NAS, which is not a viable option.

I could only imagine that what is happening is that Boxee discivers after the Denon is shut down that no capable TV is connected and defaults to the lowest resolution.

Since Boxee on the Asustor does not allow to override auto-discovered resolutions (greyed out in the menu) there seems no way other than restart.

None of my other devices that I leave on when turning off the Denon and LG show similar behaviour or they have allow to force a resolution (even the AppleTV allows that)

Any help much appreciated.

Hi
I got a Boxee from a Girlfriend, and i have hooked it up and connected it to my TV.
But well i struggle to figure out WHAT it actually is.
I can see that i can stream Series and Movies, although many of the Movie links require me to pay a fee to watch ( when i can just stream it for free on my Mac or PC ).
Also the Series available are not very well known/ mainstream ( like for example i would maybe like to watch Family Guy or Shameless ).

So im now sitting here with yet another set of cables stretching across my room connected to yet another doodad ( My Boxee ), and i dont know what its doing for me or why i have/ need it.

What does my Boxee do for me?
What CAN my Boxee potentially do for me?

Hello all, I would like to make a request to add a few more channels to the line-up of recordable channels for the Boxee DVR. I have played with several different set-up configurations (i.e.: small antenna, large antenna, mohu antenna, and cable) and currently receive about 73 channels. The problems is that I can only schedule recordings on about nine (9) of them! I have also noticed that a given provider, say PBS has one top-level channel and several additional channels (i.e.: 8.1 is a top-level channel, 8.2 & 8.3 are the additional channels, bearing their own distinct programming), those additional channels are not recordable.

From what I can tell, Boxee DVR currently allows me to record the following channels:

2.1 - NBC
8.1 - PBS
11.1 - CBS
13.1 - ABC
26.1 - FOX
39.1 - CW
45.1 - Univision
49.1 - ION
49.2 - Qubo (This channel is an example of Boxee being able to record additional sub-channels of a main channel. It is a sub-channel of 49.1)

I would like to propose the addition of the following channels to the DVR lineup:

2.2 - This
8.2 - Create
8.3 - V Me
11.2 - Bounce
13.2 - Live Well
20.1 - my20 (part of Fox 26)
39.2 - Antenna TV
47.1 - Telemundo (part of Univision)
57.1 - Kube

Thank you,
now in the morning, no sound and crashing again. resetting back to factory makes it work again but really tedious to do every time...

does factory reset change the boxee version? (firmware) is it updating itself causing it to mess everything up?

im connecting it to a samsung hte6750w (which is working perfectly)

I've been trying to set up my Boxee Box for several days & I keep running into issues. Chief among these issues is that the sharing with Windows 7 seems to be uni-directional.

I'm able to stream content from my computer to Boxee, but I'm finding myself unable to add the Boxee shares to my computer. Everything is in the same workgroup with the same name, Windows file sharing is turned on & I'm even able to connect to the shares from Windows using \\BOXEEBOX\ or \\192.168.2.4\ -- they are shared across a wireless network. However, once connected, I cannot map the drives or read the directories of the drives connected to the Boxee Box.

Do I need to go wired with the Boxee Box in order to achieve bi-directional shares or is this one of those impossibilities? Thank you.

Good Morning,

I have recently ordered myself a Boxee Box and am pretty excited about getting to play with it.

In order to hit the ground running with it I just wanted to confirm that the following would be feasible.

The Boxee Box is going to be connected directly to my Router via Ethernet cable. My computer is still on Vista (SP2 I believe, I would have to check).

Basically attached to my PC are two external hard drives. One that stores all my music. The other stores all my films and tv shows.
At present I have used Itunes to manage all my media and so have everything tagged (genre, year, artwork)

I have shared my film, tv and music folders that sit on my external drives out on Windows and given “Everyone” read/write access. They won’t be connected directly to the Boxee Box.

What I want to achieve is to import/index all my media from my harddirves into the Boxee Box. I take it this is possible as long as the PC, and 2 hardrives are switched on? All I would need to do is add the three shares as sources I take it? Plus enable Windows Sharing on the box itself?

My other question is if all my media in Itunes has the artwork attached will that pull through into Boxee Box? I notice on some of the videos on Youtube that when some people are playing their films it lists the rating, description of the film and the cast…is this something I would need to add manually or is it automatically matched to something in Boxee’s servers?

Sorry for all the questions but I’m really hoping that this is the answer to all my media playing needs 

Thanks for your help.

Since 2 years we are still waiting to get decent movie sound when using Netflix on the Boxee Box. It is so great to play a 5.1 MKV on the Boxee Box and enjoy his home cinema and it so great to stream HD movie from Netflix .... from the DVD player of your neighbor because on those devices the Netflix app is managing 5.1 sound!
I have try many player and I still believe the Boxee Box is one of the best but the inability of the Netflix apps to support 5.1 is really a major flaw for media lovers.
So I know that folks from Boxee say that we need to contact Netflix and folks from Netflix say that we need to contact the Boxee Box team but bottom line, I am sure not being the only one really frustrate to wait since 2 years the stream a Netflix movie in 5.1 on my Boxee Box!
And if someone has a magic trick ....

Hi,

I created a Powershell script for creating NFO files (for movies, series were out of scope for now) because with my collection it's too much work by hand.

More explanations and the script on my blog: Title TK: BoxeeBox, IMDB & Powershell. It makes no sense to repeat everything here.

You cannot react on my blog (except if you'd be a member of tweakers.net), but I will keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone found it useful and, if so, whether there is some feedback from the Boxee community.

If at least 1 person (except me) found it useful, I'm happy already :)

YellowOnline

PS. Sorry UNIX-people, but Powershell is Windows (Vista and higher) only.

Purchased my Boxee today and hopefully should have my hands on it next week.

I currently have my media managed in Itunes with my music on on external hardrive and my movies/tv on another one. Both these hardrives will be plugged directly in the back on the Boxee.

All my movies and films have covers on them. They were added via the "Add Image" facility via Itunes...does this mean the Boxee will pick these up via the interface?
