I have tried my boxee box on three different televisions, three different cables, two different power cables, the boxee will not display a splash screen, push audio, or video. It has a green light on the front but nothing ever displays.

I have tried to do a factory restore but there is no video.

I have tried to push a manual image but there is no video.

I have powered it off for over a day and tried it. Booted it with no HDMI. Booted it with no Ethernet. NOTHING WORKS!!!

If I hold the power for 30 seconds I get a red light that flashes 3 times and then a green flash. Don't know if that helps at all.

I have two Boxee Box's. One that I've had for over a year (Boxee #1) and the other I just bought from Amazon (Boxee #2). I have a NETGEAR ReadyNAS NV+ that I have added as a source on both Boxee Box's. On Boxee #1 everything works perfect which is why I bought another Boxee Box for another room in the house. The problem with Boxee #2 is that after watching a show on the NAS I get an error "Loading Error - Could not access file, directory or device". If I reboot the Boxee box then it works fine for one show and then I have to reboot again. It appears the Boxee Box is loosing the connection to the NAS. The Firmware is the same on both Boxee Boxes. The only difference I see is the Hardware versions. Boxee #1 is A2 and Boxee #2 has version A4. I would've thought the newer hardware version would work better but not for me. I have already had Amazon send me a replacement which had the same problem. I'm not sure what else to do and the Boxee technical support team is clueless. The other wield thing is that when I browse my folders on the NAS, the first four folder have the name of (null). These are not real folders so I call them phantom folders. Both Boxee Boxes are configured exactily the same. Any ideas?

So, I set up hanenfs as per some recommendations on these forums. I'm still having issues with 1.5GHz 720p TV shows buffering every minute or so. Whether or not I have my usenet client downloading at around 500KB/s, it doesn't make much of a difference at all.

So I just bought a Boxee and am about to upgrade to a faster cable service, so it's time to upgrade the modem and router.

I don't really know much about this stuff but I'd love a router with QOS so I can "throttle" my usenet downloads when needed, and also to limit the bandwidth of other users on the network (I have a rental suite in my home and the tenants share the connection).

I'd also like for this router to work great with the boxee as the one I'm using currently is buffering every 2 minutes or so on 5-6GB 720P MKV files. I've been reading a bit about dual-band- would this allow me to have the boxee & my media server on one band, while keeping everyone else on a seperate one?

Anyways, any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

All media gone, drive can neither mount nor format. It is a 1 year old Western Digital Green 1TB drive. I need to replace it, what is a really long lasting 2TB drive priced in the low $100 range these days? I've over the years had dozens of drives, from 40 MB up and oddly enough never before suffered a loss. Some running 24/7 for over 10 years. Thanks.

Hi!

Last night my D-Link Boxee Box didn't want to startup neither for power button, nor for remote control.
I tried to unplug and plug it back, it didn't help so. Tried to restore the factory settings, but nothing helped.
Doesn't want to start since then. The Boxee logo doesn't even lights up in any colour.
But the blue led on the power supply which is usually lights normally now flashes.
If I remove the power from the Boxee box, the flashing stops, so probably Boxee box is doing it to the power supply.
Any advice?

Hi. I am confused with these audio drop out problems with boxee. Is this something that only happens when connected to an external audio device or is it something that happens even when the box is connected via hdmi to a TV for example?
Also I have read posts saying that it seems to happen on all sorts of audio codec’s, not just dts... is this true.
I was willing to try boxee again after year or so and was hoping updates had fixed all the bugs but I am worried more importantly about audio now.
I just want to know if it will be okay if I am connecting straight to my TV and basically I am not gona get any drop outs regardless of audio codec, dts, ac-3 aac etc
cheers

When all else fails with Boxee and ready to Throw it in - solution

Got to a point where I was ready to throw it all in with the Boxee... Think I went overboard with the button pushing and got to the stage where I...

Got to a point where I was ready to throw it all in with the Boxee... Think I went overboard with the button pushing and got to the stage where I could not get the internet on my Boxee to get to settings etc. Down to last straw and then found this page amongst the To Much info help pages. It does get confusing.
I wanted to reset my Boxee to factory settings but couldnt get into the page to goto settings..

Anyway to cut a long story short here is how you can go back in and start from the beginning. Click on this link

http://support.boxee.tv/entries/2077...covery-console

It did take a couple of goes to get the Menu to come up but eventually did it. You have to push in the button on the ACTUAL box which you will find. I didnt even know it was there at the beginning.

I chose RESET ALL SETTINGS.
This took me into the page you get when you first received the Box... The settings are straight forward. I did put my password on as my Router or Wireless password thinking the Boxee would have to have permission to gain access to my Wireless.

So went thru all the screens and then had a problem.. When it asked for my Email address and password put the same one in from when I received the unit.. It kept comming up that the password and email were already registered.. Ok I then used a Hotmail address that I rarely use and a new password and worked fine... I did try the "forgot password option" to get a new password from Boxee but didnt seem to work.
Anyway no problems with the Hotmail address.. Just had to go into my hotmail to rec the message and verify my account (the last step)
Once I did that all working like new.

All working ok except the accessing my Files on my computer via the Files option... I have found if you copy or move files into the Video Public folder on my computer they actually come up on the screen under the Public option. Play fine. This will do for now and maybe can work the system out down the track...

Hope this helps and I am over the moon that my system at least works on Movies,Apps and shows etc.

I just got a Boxee Box and I like this product. However, I can not play any Netflix solution on the unit.

I error out with "We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try later or select a different title".
I have read the forums and solitude Technical support help from both Netflix and D-link. I am at Hardware Version B1 and
F/W Version 1.5.1.23735-b6a5be1.

I am hard wired to my router. I have troubleshot my modem/router side. I have 3 other devices, Apple TV, BLue Ray with Netflix, and a MAC and all play Netflix just fine.

I have reset the boxes, removed Netflix from the Boxee and reapplied. But to no avail. It is interesting, when I select a Netflix selection, I get the bar and it appears to start downloading content and then it errors out.

I have an email into Boxee TV support, but was wondering if anyone else has this issue?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and all help is greatly appreciated.

Boxee Box (latest firmware)
Netgear NDR3700v2 Gig Router
NetGear ReadyNAS
MacBook Pro OSX 10.6
- everything wired

Everything's been working for months. I relocated my setup to an RV using a 2nd router (same model)
Boxee won't access the the Media shares (fully scanned & ID'd via AFP). It knows the host as NAS (NAS.local internal reference). I can access then by Browse via SMB & UPnP.

Media share is read-only accessible to Guests via AFP in Mac OSX. Also a username/pass will access as read/write.

Everything can talk to everything. Mac has no AFP issues with NAS.

But Boxee can find any files. I turned up syslog to default (sending them to the IP address of the NAS--my syslog server). The only relevant message is :

May 14 18:32:54 192.168.1.7 boxee MountShare - Failed to mount [/tmp/mnt/afp_NAS.local_media]

I can't figure out what the issue is. Even if I use the privileged user/pass(r/w) with the boxee it just keeps says "LOADING ERROR - Could not access file, directory or device"

The only thing I can think of is that it is failing to find the NAS via a network scan and therefore can't resolve the NAS name to it's IP address. But I don't know how exactly AFP handles names or how Boxee finds an AFP name. At home I would have a FIOS router also, so I don't know if it was offering up a AFP-compatible Name Resolution. I used this setup in the RV last year. I didn't have issues--although I wonder if I used IP addresses instead of names. I don't think I did, but ...

Any ideas?

Example; when watching a movie I use the subtitle browser to find a subtitle. Sometimes you need to go a couple to find the correct one.
After turning off the video and then another time starting it again I need to go thru the process of finding the subtitle again.

Would love the feature to after downloaded and tested the subtitle to select it and save to device so it will always be there to choose. It could be saved locally to the movie folder so it works the next time or if writing permissions maybe on boxee box somewhere.

Does it plug into anything else? Or is it an antenna that just receives a signal from airwaves?

Ok so I have read lots of threads about smb sharing etc. But I still cannot sort my problem. I can see my Windows XP PC when searching for Windows smb shares and I can see my two drives that I have selected for sharing, but when I select them nothing happens they cannot be selected for scanning? Next step would be to default everything and start again, but Im sure it's just something stupid that I am missing. Any ideas?

Hi guys,

I got Boxee Box (latest fw version, together with iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, everything latest fw). With my friend, I want experienced some gameplay on TV using iP as control devices. So I look on internet, and found the game Real Racing 2 (HD), which should support exactly this. So I bought app, and I can not get it working here.

I wrote them on the board: https://getsatisfaction.com/firemint...#reply_8881749

Then I check whats going on, and I think the problem is mirroring, where Apple DRM is used, which is not supported in Boxee Box nor XBMC (I guess AirPlay code is same). I was looking around, and found interesting info:
http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.ph...828#post271828
http://www.twylah.com/jyrkihokkanen/...77002371624960
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=AirPlay "AirPlay mirroring is currently unsupported."

So, it seems we will not get this feature anytime soon, so you can forget to play games using AirPlay or mirroring. Not anytime soon.

I am going to buy Apple TV, heck...

Hello,

I currently have a media player box that I use to play videos from my external hard drive on our TV. But it's aging and I'm looking for a good replacement. I've been following Boxee since it's beta days and someone suggested that they thought it had one of the primary features that we're looking for...

We're wanting a box that's able to lookup file info online on IMDB or something similar and give info about the movie or TV show that's on our hard drive. So, if we can't remember what a particular movie is about, we could have the info, genre, basic plot etc from the media player's ability to look it up. Is this in fact possible with Boxee? Is it difficult to setup or is it a basically native function to the box?

Second question I have about Boxee is what type of up-to-date news capability does it have? We no longer have cable/satellite and to be honest, we've not missed it at all except for one thing: my husband misses current news broadcasts, especially during an election year. I saw that you have BBC live which would probably be good for world news but are there any apps or options for current news? Most services which have "news clips" are at best a few days old and I was hoping for something more up to date. Any info you have on this would be awesome!

Any advice, thoughts, info or additional info (other that the questions I asked) that you think would be helpful for me to know, would be awesome. Boxee is a bit more expensive than most of the media players we've been looking at but it may just have the functions that we're looking for, which would make it worth the extra cost.

Thanks in advance!

Whilst there are certain mods, I would simply like to bypass the power switch and leave the boxes running 24 / 7.

Is this simply a matter of bridging the power connector and disconnecting the power switch?

Does anybody have any experience with this?

Thank you for any help.
