you did a restart of boxee the problem seems to be with ati card you can see from this thread (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=452) not sure it will make a difference but change in the advancedsettings from yes to 1 also make sure you have permissions..

I have been having this issue since the last release and I never was able to find a resolution.

Except a "blue overlay" it's green. I posted screen shots before.

we have not forgotten you guys ...we are aware of this ATI issues...

First off... Love the screen saver! Lmao, I left it running to make food and I came back, a bunch of faces popping around the screen.

Alright, playing locally based videos and streaming such as trailers or CNN/other channels give the same result.

The only 'streaming' that works perfectly fine without any color issues is Hulu. Hulu works perfect.

I hope that helps at all if any.

we are aware that this would work...:) i hope we will find a fix...:)

XBMC has a fix for this issue. Switching the video player's render method to ARB (or anything but GLSL) fixes the problem in XBMC.

are you experiencing the same problem with boxee..:)

Just loaded the newest version last night and still having the same issue.

Oh sorry yes I forgot to mention that :o ....
The playback is exactly the same - blue and smudgy on boxee and XBMC Atlantis on Macbook Pro with ATI card. The only difference is that on XBMC I can switch the video render method to ARB on XBMC which makes local video playback work ok. Switching it back to GLSL makes it blue and smudgy again.

Does anyone know which version of XBMC the latest Boxee was ported from? Maybe there is a workaround in the config files that hasn't made it to the user interface yet ...

Tried the following hack in the config file:
edited ~/Libary/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/guisettings.xml and added the following under the <videoplayer> node:
<rendermethod>1</rendermethod> (this is the XBMC option)
Ran Boxee and local video playback is still blue :(
After I exit Boxee the line has been removed from guisettings.xml.

Well it was worth a try .. but it is obvious that the ATI drivers are not coping well with GLSL.

It took a few tries but I got it too. Very nice.

Be sure to add the "<rendermethod>1</rendermethod>" text directly under the <videoplayer> node - the first line. At the bottom did not work for me.

Thank you all!

MARCEL, this worked! Images no longer just dark red/green. I also edited the 'advancedsettings.xml' file for good measure.

Intel Core2Duo, OSX10.4.11, NVidia 7600 GT card.

THANKS!

Thank you guys! I had the same problem. The strange thing was, it was working for hours. Then, when I opened a tech show about 3D video it suddenly changed. At first I thought they had filmed an episode that you could watch with those red and blue 3D glasses.
Today is my first day using Boxee and I love it. Thanks again!

Thanks to everyone for this thread.

I originally looked at Boxee last year, but only seriously got to grips with it this weekend and suddenly everything was blue and distorted: http://twitpic.com/1o4zz

Really appreciate the tips and pointers from this forum and the Boxee community!

Tx.

i had similar problems (with both xbmc and boxee) with all video's coming in on a shade of green. my solution was to duplicate my settings from my xbmc settings:

<videoplayer>
<rendermethod>2</rendermethod>
</videoplayer>
<videoscreen>
<vsync>3</vsync>
</videoscreen>

and everything was then good!

note that you must kill boxee before editing the file, as shutting it down appears to rewrite the guisettings.xml file.

for those interested, lspci shows that i have a

ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600]

Yee.

Hi,

I have finally upgraded my Boxee app on MacBook Pro running tiger to 0.9.20 (I was running 0.9.10 before and everything was fine).

Now all the menus have some blue overlay with so many lines that I cannot read the UI at all. However the videos play just fine.

I have tried all the suggestions to change the video render method hoping that will fix the problem. No success.

I have included an screenshot to show how bad it looks.

Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks
