Is it just me, or do we need a better source for coverart? :)

Follow up question without connotation to the previous...

Do we have an irc channel for devs/testers?

sorry. no IRC channel for now...
however, you are more than welcome to join #xbmc on freenode.

about coverart - do you mean for music or video? what is wrong with the current one?

I haven't added any video content yet, so audio. The images are in poor resolution and it finds only 70% of my albums.

No IRC channel? How is that even possible.. I'm already on #xbmc.

FYI; I believe that it is AMG (allmusic.com) (http://allmusic.com) that is currently being used for album covers.

Do you know of a better online source that is free?

PS! Maybe you could include a list of specific albums that you think get poor quality covers.

we have partnered with muze (http://www.muze.com), and will change to use their cover art for music in one of the upcoming versions.

additionally, we will support selecting your own cover art if you wish to do so.

I was thinking we could do a boxee-database where people using boxee could contribute coverart. People would have to able to administrate it by choosing one cover over an other and thereby the best quality cover would be selected by default.

tsella : That sounds cool, I'll look forward to that.

this "community-vot-thing" would be awesome..
but i think, you need a big server to pull that of.. and how about copyrights...

I would very much like to ad my own cover-art. 90% it's okay but sometimes you need something else.

Hello!
I was thinking today about covers, and still have not any idea, due to the perfect minimalist GUI in app. I just disappointed that only a few of my albums & tracks covers from iTunes library are shown. Hope it will be fixed someday.

All the best!

hi 9ad9

can you pm few examples of the albums that the cover art did not pick up on...

Make sure you are using the latest version (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=403)

Hi there,

Im new to Boxee, and i have figured most out, but some of the cover art for my films is in the wrong language or is not a cover at all, for instance, some of them are advertisements, and some are banners (long and thin), for example, The Simpsons Movie.

By reading this thread it doesnt look like it is possible to change the cover art, is there no other manual way i.e saving the cover picture in with the movie in a folder, so it can read/identify it as a cover?

Thanks for any help

Carlos

I think so, both for music and video. I just had to change 30 coverart images for my movies because they were either foreign or didnt show at all.

A good source for videos would be; http://www.themoviedb.org/. They have good quality images as well as more movies in their database than the current one. At least thats my impression so far.

Sweeeeeeeet. I've been waiting for this. I have a massive music collection and am very OCD about proper labeling, coverart, etc. The lack of ability to select using my own information was driving me nuts!
