Forgive me if this bug has already been posted. I searched and could not find a related issue.

Netflix works fine in the new 0.9.12.6566 version that came out today, but all my previous versions of Boxee that run on three different computers in the house will not play any netflix movie or tv show. I can access my account fine, scroll movies titles, but when trying to play them it just sits on a red netflix screen. This is happening on two mac mini's and a Macbook Pro in the house. When clicking the play/pause button on my Apple remote, I get the Boxee menu showing up on the bottom and can see the time of the movie playing, but no picture, just the red screen.

Any idea what is happening? I'm not going to use the new version of Boxee to fix this problem as it is plagued with bugs.

Same behavior as above: hanging on big red Netflix screen.

I didn't witness it myself but the other person who uses boxee on this Mac mini said something about a Silverlight update right before it stopped working. But I can't find any news about a new Silverlight for Mac release.

Oh, additional piece of data, I am also using the previous version of boxee (haven't updated to 0.9.12.6566).

Happening to me, too. Haven't upgraded Boxee or done any updates on my Mac. Just started today.

I upgraded to 0.9.12.6566 and it's still not working. That is strange Netflix is not working on the new Boxee update. It works fine when I boot up the new one. I would try to re-install Boxee and see what happens.

Boxee + Netflix was working as recently as Monday, but did not work Tuesday night and continues to not work today. I can see my queue, search, and see individual details pages, but when I select play on a title it just goes to the red "Netflix" screen. Previously when we got to that screen subtitles of status ("Acquiring license", "Buffering Stream", etc) would appear, but no nothing appears and it just sits there. I have not updated Boxee or made any other system changes.

I have 3 intel iMacs, Boxee Version 0.9.12.6566

Like Orangewolf, can search Netflix and see episode selection menus, but I get "Network Launch Error" when clicking on any show.

I am also unable to play Netflix movies. The netflix instant queue shows up, but when I try and play a video I get: Movie play failed. Netflix launch error.

Watching via safari works fine.

My log shows an error (from the plugin I guess):

NOTICE: exception: len() of unsized object

Tracing it back I can see that netflix.get_play_url isn't returning a URL. There is an attempt to read a long url

http://www.netflix.com/WiPlayer?movieid=70001766&oauth_consumer_key ...

But the read of that url fails and returns None. Very sad.

Getting the same issues. I was using it just fine on Monday (6/22) and then it stopped from Tuesday on. Can view it via Firefox and Safari just fine. Don't know if it'll be resolved soon, but just wanted to add to the users having the same issues.

I am experiencing the exact behavior on my Mac Mini running 0.9.12.6566 as Orangewolf.

I have yet to update my Dell Mini 9 running MacOS because boxee is working perfectly on it.

Seems like the QA effort on this release was not that great, I am willing to help if needed.

i confirm this as well.

the strange part is that removing this version and rolling back to the old one does not fix the issue. this is with and without removing the ~/Library/Application\ Support/BOXEE folder.

i had netflix working for movies in my queue after the upgrade, but television shows were not playing. after the reinstalls, netflix is not working at all and i'm getting the same behaviour - red netflix screen, or the failed to launch app errors.

but, i am still able to get netflix working in safari, so it's not a total bust.
and besides, what else are we gonna use? plex? give me a break....that app completely pooped upon the osx application interface standards. it doesn't make sense at all, nothing does what it should.

one other problem i noticed that is weird and off-topic....
the older version found all my tv episodes just fine, i confirm they are all named correctly. after the re-install for both the old version and the new one....only some shows (curb your enthusiasm, masters of horror) show up in the list. others like futurama and simpsons, do not show up.
i can browse to them fine, and i tried to add them manually---but boxee is not finding "simpsons" on tvdb it seems, nor is it finding futurama.

anyone else notice behaviour like this?

I am having the same issue. Anyone heard of any official word on this issue? Hard to test out my 14 day trial to see if I want to keep netflix when my whole intent is using it with boxee.

i just downloaded the newest version on both ubuntu and windows vista, and it isn't working. it gives me a big red screen saying "Coming soon... Stay tuned!" What's up?

On both the previous version and the newest update (Mac Mini), I am getting the Netflix screen and nothing else. Just adding this so that the relevance of the issue can be gauged. Still love my Boxee.

UPDATE: After ignoring the computer for about 15 minutes, the movie began to play.

which release/version are you referring to?

i'm seeing this behaviour on osx, release 0.9.12.6566....i don't see any update available for this atm, or an update for the netflix plugin.

as for the off-topic problem i had, it seems to have fixed itself--probably just took longer to resolved the tvdb urls than i expected.

Netflix issue was updated yesterday so you might need to close and reopen boxee ..

still no dice marcel---i moved recently, so the mac mini was powered off the whole time.

finally get internet, first thing i did was to re-install boxee and try the first movie in my queue, i get the same error "movie playing failed. netflix failed to launch".

again, safari still plays everything fine.

i'm looking into the log files now to see if i can find any smoking gun for you guys.

and it's been a while since i had internet, so i may have missed several posts about this---searching for any solutions didn't show me anything relevant though. so if you know of a post that i didn't find, by all means...
