How to build our own application

I am very new to boxee,
I want to create new application which is used to view the images from my laptop using boxee.
Can anyone tell what are all the steps to create an application?

view the images from my laptop using boxee.

You can already do this in boxee by just mapping the directory with the images and then just browsing from the "Pictures" menu.
