I did all the updates for boxee on Apple TV (although they all still show up under updates), and I can load Hulu and find TV shows etc. But when I click on an episode, the screen goes white and I hear nothing. If I hit the play button, it brings up the control bar, and it looks like the video is playing (i.e. the time is advancing), but I still see nothing. Any ideas?

hi tiger12896

Are you based in the US? Does this happen an all the tv shows you are trying to access?
You also need to check via a browser to see you can access HULU maybe they have a downtime ..

I just installed and updated Boxee, and Hulu will not play. It goes through the loading screen, then the advertisement and countdown, and then.....nothing. The status bar is moving like it is playing, but my screen is blank and there is no sound either.

I have tested Hulu on the net from my Macbook, and it works fine. Also, CBS and Comedy central play just fine from Boxee, so it IS a Hulu issue.

Help please?

I am having the same problem. Everything else plays fine except Hulu. Hulu runs the first ad then the time starts counting down while a black screen stays up. I checked Hulu on my laptop and it is working fine though.

I was able to play hulu at around 800pm eastern time us. Then we went to eat. Once I came back, all I got was the white screen too. :p

Haven't checked today yet. I will when i get home...

same deal as others.

I can browse Hulu's videos.

I select a video to play, I get the advert, but the video is black (and no audio) (timeline indicates a full show).

I am in the in US and if I go to my desktop and pull up Hulu in a web browser it works fine.

Hulu was working yesterday in Boxee (on aTV)

Same issue here. Also, Comedy Central plays the ad at the start and then a second, before going to a screen that says download, but does nothing.

CBS Working fine, watching NUMBERS

Same here. CBS, CC, and all others work... except HULU. Plays ad, then black screen - timer runs as if the video is playing... I'm on an apple TV.

Ditto for me. Except movie are also not playing on my Mac. Also How do you log in for an R rated movie like you have to do on Hulu.com?

I'm having the same problem. Ad pops up quick, then the countdown starts, then nothing but a black screen, progress bar says it's playing tho.

Count me in:( Last night I watched Chuck and Heroes. Got home from work today with a friend to show off boxee, and everything went great until I tried watching anything through hulu. Like everyone else I get the ad with the countdown and than nothing.

I too am in the same boat on both my AppleTV and my Mac. I get the add with the countdown then nothing, though it does show the video as playing.

the boxee team knows about this, and is working on a fix:

I just created the Patchstick on my G5 iMac this evening and then installed boxee on my ATV which had been previously upgraded to v2.2. I then ran all the updates. I CAN get "Have Gun-Will Travel" from Hulu, but not "The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" or several other TV programs. I haven't tried Hulu movies. After failing to get it to work on my ATV, I went to my iMac running OS 10.5.5 and Hulu DID deliver the Sarah Conners episode I had previously tried on the ATV. If I can submit any information that would be useful to chasing down the bugs, please direct me.

I'm very excited to see this all work as well as it did, full screen, very little stuttering (Have Gun... is in B&W, if that would make a difference). This works much better than trying to watch Hulu on the PS3 with latest upgrade.

I can't quite figure out how it all works, though. Since my ATV already plays my music from iTunes and movies, it doesn't bother me that I can't seem to get either boxee or XBTV to access the music and movies on iTunes. Is there a simple "users manual" page somewhere?

Boxee cannot play files with DRM.

I'm feeling rather unsmart here, but I cannot figure out how to get my boxee atv to even connect or browse to hulu. I thought that entering the hulu rss feeds via the web browser interface would populate my channels ( » Add video, audio or torrent feeds here and they will appear on boxee under My Channels.), but I don't see anything.

Can someone point me to step one on this? thanks!

I just installed Boxee via the USB stick today, did the Update (of the launcher and Boxee itself) and was surprised that the version of Boxee it updated to was pre-Hulu. I had to go in and do the Boxee update again to get Hulu to show up.

So, if your screen doesn't look like what is shown in the video on the boxee.tv site, then you probably need to run the Update a second time!

Once I'd run the update a second time, Hulu showed up under the internet video section (not TV shows where I first looked for it ...)

I have this problem last night also. The funny thing is that some of the short clips would play (5 minutes or less). The full feature TV shows won't play at all. They were just as above.

Same here. I installed, updated, couldn't find it, and had to update again. I could browse all of the content, but when I went to play it would play the "sponsored by" ad and then there was just a black screen. Looks like they have a fix coming out soon though.

thanks for the response. I have updated Boxee, but I have not installed the launcher -- would that be a problem?

I see there is a new update out today. I will install both this evening and see what happens.

Maybe I misunderstand how to use boxee. I was under the impression that adding content such as an rss feed to my web account will also be reflected on my ATV. Am I wrong about that?

Updated and hulu seems to be working... It does appear to jump /stutter at first (buffering?) then play relatively smoothly. First few minutes of the daily show were unwatchable but then it settled to a decent framerate. Keep up the good work!

Okay, I installed the launcher and again updated. That seems to have cleared up my issue.

Thanks, folks! This is a great app!

I installed last week and ran the updates/launcher then. I got my invite today and was able to log in and noted the stuttering on Hulu. I ran both updates and launcher again and it seems better, at least on the CBS program I watched.

One question though, does the update site always show the latest update/launcher even if you have installed them? One suggestion would be to clear installed updates.

Also I use the ipod touch remote application for atv. I wonder if it would be possible to write an app for Boxee remote?

Hulu plays great but about 3/4 of the way through a show it goes through a buffering state that takes a few minutes before playback resumes. Do I need to change my internet cache in xbmc?

sadly, boxee has no control over this cache. the cache setting for boxee are for streaming video and audio...

in the case of hulu, the actual flash player set the cache size.
