View Full Version : Text Missing For Most Menus and Items

On my ATV, boxee menu items and menus do not have text. On my MBP I see everything and it's good, but my ATV seems to have corrupted preferences. I first noticed when I tried to change my Region from Australia to US. Then I was getting bad values for the selection, like ?0?.
Should I remove the preferences file? I updated Boxee to the most recent and that did not change anything. If it is corrupt preferences, where are they located?
Thanks for the help.

you could try deleting the boxee config folder, but that might not help... boxee stores it's language files in it's app bundle.
the boxee config directroy is here:
/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/BOXEE
i would back it up, just to be safe.
if this fails to resolve the issue, try re-installing boxee, entirely.
also, you should keep in mind that right now, the only 'complete' language for boxee is en-us.

I recently updated to 2.3 and the newest version of Boxee. I still don't have the menu items labels (for example the menu when you press the left arrow -> Video, Music, Pictures, Profile, etc.). I see the graphic, but have no text. The same is true when I go into settings.
@AgentLame I appreciate your help, but if I remove the config folder, will Boxee regenerate? I don't think it's my language settings, because I think it's set to the default en-us (which I didn't change).
Could this be a resolution issue? I am running my ATV through HDMI to my flat screen.
I am running Boxee on my MacBook Pro and everything is good, I'm only experiencing this on my ATV.
Thank you for any additional help.

i *think* changing the region settings can sometimes affect the lang... there is another post about this, but i can't find it, now. :(
still, deleting the config is the best place to start.

this happens when you change the region language from English (even English(US)) try removing the BOXEE directory under ~/Library/Application Support/ and running boxee again..

Thanks for the confirmation...I dropped the BOXEE directory and restarted Boxee and all was good. The only drawback to this was that I had to reload all my prefs and custom sources. If this is going to be a known issue for a bit, maybe there is a more specific approach that only blasts the language issues and leaves everything else.
But, I just wanted to pass on the word that this was an acceptable solution to the loss of text on the menus and settings.

actually, you could hand edit guisetting.xml... but as i wasn't sure what the the exact issue was, i went with the 'catch-all' fix.
a lot of times it's overkill... but it's also the quickest.
