when I try to use a network share, boxee brings up a username/password dialog box. What username/password does it need? I can't seem to get it to connect.

the smb share is on a readyNAS. also, is there anyway to connect via nfs, since that is faster for HD content?

thanks

is the smb share protected by user/pass?
can you access it from osx (not via boxee)?

nfs unfortunately is not supported.

actually, see http://www.atmos.washington.edu/~salathe/osx_unix/nfsmount.html for nfs mounting under osx.

once its mounted, boxee should see it a regular local directory which you can add as a source.

i have not tested this personally, and would be happy to hear about your experiance, and if it actually improved anything over smb shares.

I have the same problem and I have a Windows 7 machine. Everytime I try to access a network drive it says I need a password. I do not have any passwords on my computer and under Network and Sharing I have "Network Discovery - on" "File and Printing Sharing - on" "Turn on sharing for anyone on the network - on" "Turn off Password protective sharing"
Also when I shared my folder I made sure everyone had full access.
Why is Boxee asking for a password?
Nome of my other 5 comuters in my house asks for a username and password, just boxee. This just started when I updated my boxee a week ago. I even factory reinstalled appletv and repatched it with boxee, and still does it.
Please help....
