What platform are you running?
I don't know that it's my favorite, as I only have one for the PC, but the Streamzap remote works out of the box with Ubuntu/Boxee. With that I've programmed a Sony RM-AV2500 Integrated remote to do all of the Streamzap's functions, so I can control both OTA TV and Boxee from the same universal remote.

I'm also curious, based on the Windows version. I'm not about to plunk down 150 or 300 bucks for one of those beefy Harmony remotes, but of the 20-40ish range, with a little wiggle room, I'm curious. Also, do any of them in the lower cost range have the ability to learn signals? I've got a Klipsch Decoder I'm using for sound, so I'd need the volume to interact with that. Thanks!

eshapin, the remote is now just under 20 bucks too! I was looking, there's that or the Harmony 510 or the 550 refurbished for just under 50 each. Course, if that'll learn the controls for my Klipsch decoder (volume), Boxee and what else I'd need for the DVICO Fusion card, 20 bucks is better than 50. So yeah, may go to that one.

That looks like the kind of remote I'm looking for (as far as features/price ratio goes). How would I get that working for my PC when using Boxee? I've been looking around and can't find anything. Am I missing something obvious?

Snapstream Firefly gets my vote. I've had mine for about a year and it's been great :)

I find myself using the Boxee app on my iphone and if that starts to act goofy I VNC into my laptop with my phone. The VNC stuff works out pretty well since you I have the mouse and keyboard features from the small form factor of an iphone :)

How well does Boxee work under windows with remotes?
Has anyone used a Harmony remote with windows for example and what IR receiver did you use. (will just any ir receiver work?)

Thanks everyone. I haven't been on in a while but it's good to come back to a ton of recommendations. I'll look into all the mentioned remotes. (Also I run Windows to answer earlier questions)

snapstream firefly... I've used it for years on BeyondTV and now for close to a year on boxee.
Absolutely love it. I'm buying a second one for another boxee setup.

We need the model of the TV in order to find codes for the remote. Also have u read the manual included with the TV which contains all this info and guides u on how to program the remote, but without the model of the TV then theres nothing any one can do

Hi,
I am using the Harmony One with Boxee since a couple of days. I got an HP IR receiver and uploaded the Windows Media Center definition on the Harmony one. The basic functions (navigation keys, OK, back, playback controls) work fine with Boxee. I am just trying to figure out if there are any other useful keys from the MCE remote that I should map to the harmony.
Generally I am very happy with the setup right now because it was very easy to set up. I like the Harmony since it allows me to control the TV at the same time. For example, the navigation keys and playback keys are send to the HTPC with Boxee, while volume, mute and other things are send to the TV.
Cheers, Robert

Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000. Has a built-in mouse too; however I also use the tv for web browsing, etc so I need the full kbd functionality.
