View Full Version : AppleTV installation issues

I went through the entire installation process, from formatting the USB thumb drive to installing the atvusb-creator thing, to booting ATV off of the USB thumb drive (successfully, with the ssh frontrow@appletv.local and the pw frontrow lines of text showing up), and then rebooting ATV without the USB thumb drive attached. When I do this, ATV's menus look exactly as they did before, with no Boxee or XBMC.
What am I doing wrong? I'm on ATV v2.2, and my MacBook Pro is 10.5.5.
I don't know how to use Terminal much, so if I need to do something in there, I'm not sure what it is.
Thanks for your help in advance.

From what I read here in the forums ... it seams to be the USB key that we are using that isnt good for AppleTV ...
Looks like I have to find one that does boot and is 1gig of storage (1gig of storage looks like it did the trick for must people in the forum

yeah, i used a 1GB stick with no issues running ATV 2.2/10.5.5.
one thing that may save you some time though - just partition the drive in HFS+ (extended journaled) in disk utility - then run the atvusb creator. you don't really have to do anything special to make the drive bootable. you shouldn't have to deal with terminal at all if everything goes smoothly. hth. :)
