Explanation of RSS for Boxee?

I'm familiar with using an RSS feed to get my news via Google Reader, but I'm not sure I totally understand using RSS for Boxee? I've used Boxee to watch through Hulu or CBS and poked around the RSS portion of this forum. Does anyone know of a good resource to explain it? The Boxee wiki didn't help much... Thanks!

I don't think I want to create one. From what I can tell, I want to add RSS feeds for TV Shows not available through the apps already in Boxee and potentially even live football games from Europe, for example.
