Trying to get the newest release working today on Ubuntu Hardy, but I'm seeing some issues. If I run '/opt/boxee/run-boxee-desktop' from the terminal, I see the following output:

$ /opt/boxee/run-boxee-desktop
20/10/08 22:00:41#DEBUG#bxbgprocess.cpp:142(Start)#bg process initialized. 1 worker threads created.
20/10/08 22:00:41#DEBUG#bxcurl.cpp:63(Initialize)#curl initialized. version <7.18.0>

Running Boxee test...
And the log goes to... /tmp/gene-
Fatal error encountered, aborting
Error log at /tmp/gene-xbmc.log

BXBGProcess, Application Messenger, asked to stop, this = 0x8faab0c
BXBGProcess, Application Messenger, asked to stop, this = 0x8faab0c

The message says to refer to /tmp/gene-xbmc.log, but there isn't one. There is a /tmp/gene-boxee.log, but it is empty. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to get more debug info.

can you post up your machine specs?

It's a Pentium 4, 3.2 Ghz. 1 gig of memory, running Ubuntu Hardy. Ran previous versions of Boxee without any issues.

Looks like the cause of this may have been very low disk space...I got rid of some files and Boxee started up!

I had this same problem on my Apple TV. It was FULL from syncing with iTunes, so I blasted the drive, and all was good. I never wanted to store media on that spinning HDD anyway!
