Hi guys... I have been searching for the past couple of days for options to watch hulu content on boxee from the UK. (Mac OSX 10.5.6)

There are plenty of posts and I've picked up some good recommendations. However, before I try and of it, I just wanted to know a couple of things...

1) If I register with a service such as VforVPN does this get set up in my system - then do I connect manually THEN load Boxee? Or can I use the plugin written on this site (Boxee VPN plugin for openVPN)

2) If I am connected to the VPN, does that mean that I will not be able to watch BBC iPlayer? Would I need to disconnect from the VPN each time. If this is the case, can you call a script to do that when you load hulu for example?

3) I read on this forum that you could channel JUST hulu traffic using the VPN and have everything else using my normal connection - thus allowing BBC iPlayer to function. If that's that case, can I set it up so any US based content will always use the VPN route?

4) I have a NASlite server which has movies etc that Boxee will see. If I connect on the VPN will this terminate the LAN connection??

Thanks for any advice!!!

I've been trying to achieve very similar results although in my case I'm trying to view both British and American geo-IP locked video streams, as I'm located in Australia.

OSX does have a VPN-on-demand feature that I thought would be the answer to my prayers. However having entered test domain names it became apparent that it simply doesn't work and I've been searching for an alternative solution for some time now.

So to answer your questions.
1) I have to connect manually - would love for it to be automatic but know of no software that would enable this.
2) That's correct - you wouldn't be able to view anything on iPlayer because as far as the Beeb's geo-IP check is concerned, you're in the states.
3) This falls under the afore-mentioned VPN-on-demand issue.
4) VPN will have no impact on your LAN.
