Sound issues with DAC

Hi - just started to use Boxee and love it (mac mini, flat screen). I have an external DAC plugged into a USB port on my mini and into my HiFi. For web shows (Hulu etc) the sound plays fine but with media stored locally it plays thorugh the Mini's built in speaker (which is pretty quiet:)). i tried setting it to my DAC in general settings but it didnt seem to work. Am i missing a key settings box?

I have the same issue. Did not see your post before I posted a similar.
Plex sends the sound to the USB DAC.

I have the Soundsticks that plug into the USB port. All Mac Mini sound comes out fine. I can even hear the Boxee sound effects (e.g. up/down bubbles, etc when I'm selecting). But I only get movie/file sound through the Mac Mini speakers. Before I had it connected to a stereo system but it was overkill.

Does anyone know why the Boxee sounds work fine but not the file audio? For example, if I watch a movie, I can only hear it through the MacMini built in speaker.
