two quick questions for anyone familiar with Boxee and apple tv: i have a G5 at home and an apple tv. if i borrow an intel mac to make a patchstick and install it on my apple tv…will i be able to use any of the boxee functionality, like streaming .avi files, from my networked G5 to my apple tv?

also, how easy is it to uninstall boxee from the apple tv?

thanks!

ATVUSB will creatore your patchstick. There is a version that will work on PPC Macs like the G5.

Check it out at http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/downloads/list

If you're running Leopard on your G5 you should be able to share folders using Windows file sharing (SMB/CIFS protocol). Boxee on the Apple TV will automatically discover these Windows file shares and you can stream AVI files.

You can always restore the Apple TV to factory default settings. This will eliminate any traces of Boxee or that you've modded the Apple TV. Eventually, I'll discover how to uninstall Boxee without the need to restore to factory defaults.
