boxee hangs on startup

I installed boxee on hardy heron and it just hangs when I start it up. I may be doing something wrong as I can only get the app to the +user screen but cannot enter my username\password.

Anyone have any ideas to get it up and running? Thanks.

this is a well known/reported issue.

you can try loding boxee using:

LC_ALL="en.gb" /usr/boxee/run-boxee-desktop

or read this thread:

but a new version will be out in a few hours... i'd just wait.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to launch via the terminal code you provided but it did not work. Is there any way to close out of boxee once its loaded and hangs? Boxee is still hanging upon load but it requires a system restart to get out of it.

If possible I would like to try to update the version I have to the latest one - any help with that is appreciated as well.
