For whoever might be interested, I threw together a couple of apps in Automator to make it possible to either put the Mac to sleep or shut it down completely from Twisted Melon's Mira (http://twistedmelon.com/mira/). I found two Automator actions here:

I added some icons and put them in the application launch list in my Mira preferences. If you want to download the apps with icons, I posted them on my webserver here:
