Here is the link: http://xbmc.org/blog/2009/04/23/xbmc-904-babylon-beta-1-released/
Does this mean that now boxee can grab the code and make a PPC version?!?! If so get ready for a whole new wave of boxee users :D

I think I listed this in the wrong thread. Can a mod move it over to the Mac section.

I posted in the announcements forum but didn't get much feedback (none) I just saw that team XBMC released a new version today that supports PPC. From what I have read on these forums is that boxee was not on PPC Macs because it was never coded for it. So now that XBMC is in PPC format, does that mean that we will see boxee on PPC soon???

i doubt it, don't think it's worth team boxee's time. they'll probably focus more on bug fixes, improvements, and ui. but then again i guess you never know.

God I hope not, why would we want them to have to struggle to keep up with another platform, especially one that's dying off.

Actually it wouldn't be for a platform that's dying off. If I'm not mistaken the PS3 also runs on a PPC format. So this would be great for those who have a PS3 lying around and want to play with Boxee. Also I wouldn't mind putting it on the G4 Mac Mini that's in the closet now. :-D

Dying off???? There are tons of PPC in the wild that are sitting around doing nothing. They would make excellent boxee stb. Also as mentioned above the PS3 could also benefit from this. They were discussing on the other forums about running linux on the PS3 with boxee on top of that.
I know it's not easy work at all, but any normal company wants to reach the largest target audience possible. By doing this they would expand even further. Just my 2 cents :D

I doubt the PPC architecture could handle some of the higher end content, especially HD.

I'm unsure whether that is true or not. But for those using boxee for the internet content experience, a PPC will have no problem playing the internet "HD" out there.

It works like a charm... finally I have a new destination (been waiting a while for this) for my old iMac G5. It's like having a new TV :)
I really, really, really hope Boxee will be available too on the PPC platform. I prefer Boxee over xbmc itself.

Dying off...dude this would mean I could add boxee to my PS3 with ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04 installed. Plus my iBook could have it installed. totally worth it.
