Can we please get any slight hint as to when we could expect the next release for linux?

Also I was wondering how you guys make money programing things like xbmc and boxee?

Thanks

Excellent.

I'm sorry for seeming impatient. I'm just very excited about running a more stable version of boxee with the new updates. Also, I'm very impatient.

Thanks again

I don't mind waiting if it means a more stable beta emerges. I would just reiterate my earlier request that the release support back to Ubuntu 8.04, which is a LTS release. Since the Linux box running Boxee is the family TV (it also runs MythTV), and I'm the only geek in the family, it doesn't pay to stay on the bleeding edge. The MythTV forums are full of exhortations of "if it isn't broke, don't fix it". So I'm staying with 8.04 throughout the whole 3-year support period.

So anyways, I hope the new beta works on 8.04.

At the risk of being even more demanding, I'd like to request a build for Debian Lenny (Stable). I use Debian Stable for the same reasons as given above. I've been using the current Boxee Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) build on Debian Stable with only a minor tweak. So, I would really it if the next release included a Debian Stable build, or barring that, an Ubuntu Hardy build.

Please give this some consideration.

Thanks

I'd like to chip in here by saying that I would like to see the package for 8.10. I started out using 8.04 but had the usual difficulties getting my wireless network up. The network manager in 8.10 worked like a dream for me, also I have my bluetooth keyboard working great in 8.10 (using blueman) and also for that reason I would like to stick with 8.10

I do wish the release wouldn't keep slipping though, it has been 'a couple more weeks' for what seems a good few weeks now. Since first reading all about the great things Boxee can do, I have been stuck for months now with an unusable system because I can't even play MP3s without it crashing. When all's said and done, Boxee is in alpha so I guess I knew what I was taking on when I started out. I'm just jealous as hell of those users who have a stable system and can actually enjoy using Boxee

With boxeehq putting a hold on development work, waiting on Windows and Linux betas to be updated, is it far fetched to see simultaneous releases for all platforms in the future?

I imagine boxeehq is taking this stance for a reason.

awesome. :D

I am assuming it will fully support the API and App functionality built into the Mac version? Being in Canada I've been eagerly keeping my eye on that CBC plugin.

I imagine boxeehq is taking this stance for a reason. My guess is the reason is that some features don't work on Linux and they want to get those fixed before they release it. Better to get complaints about it late than complaints about it broken. It's more then just typing make at each platform's shell prompt.

I'm sure it is jtv. But with the Windows update pushed to June, it's rather disappointing.

better to get complaints about it late than knowingly releasing it completely broken. we welcome complaints of being broken, but we try not to release it this way.

It's more then just typing make at each platform's shell prompt.

you can say that again.
