I am using the latest Boxee alpha on my 2009 Mac Mini. When Boxee is running as the front most app and either DVD player or EyeTV are launched for example, then they become the front most app (DVD player or EyeTV). However, they don't respond to the Apple Remote. Quitting them and going back to the running Boxee shows that Boxee has been responding to the Apple Remote events even though it was not the frontmost app.
If I quit Boxee and then launch either DVD player or EyeTV they then respond correctly to Apple Remote events.
So it appears that Boxee doesn't play well with sharing the stage with other apps.
I have seen other reports of problems using DVD player with Boxee and feel the reason for the problems is this issue of Boxee not giving up control or access to Apple Remote events to other apps.
