Newbie: XML Apps template/refer

I'm a complete newbie and I'm beginning to explore the Boxee XMLs.
I think is a good idea to have a refer for the controls, how they actually look on Boxee and to check how the developing procede (for example do the text tag <angle> should work? Will the label '1' always be 'pictures'? etc.)

This is the result of my first experiments:

Ill keep doing my experiments: any other newbie is interested in this? Make it sense at all?
I attached the hw.zip to the thread: It will not really matter where would be installed: video, pictures or music since by now is just a list of local controls and internal variables.

well, yes, that is the page where Im taking the examples :).
The point is to have a visual 'omnicomprensive' active palette of every control to choose from to use in real plugin. As I said I just started playing with Boxee so this could be completely pointless.
There are things I don't understand (and I just tried a couple of controls) and having an example + code will probably make easier for me to ask for help and maybe less boring for experts to answer.

The app now is split in 9 + 1 'modules' each for 'page' + main 'page'.
Ill popolate the pages with everything Ill be able to find around to access boxee features before begin to attack python code.
I tried to access some pictures in a rss feed (the italian newspaper repubblica.it:
http://rss.feedsportal.com/c/32275/f/438637/index.rss) but, if I understand well, boxee is not able to access directly media contents if not tagged in the 'right' way?
I suppose the only way to access 'generic' media is to parse the xml in python?
Do anyone know if this is the right approach to the problem?
