Last week my apple remote was working fine, in the middle of the week I ran the iTunes and iLife updates, this weekend my remote stopped working (all on my macbook).

When boxee isn't open my remote works fine with using front row, so I know the batteries aren't dead.

When I check "always running" my menu button will launch boxee but then the controls cease to work.

I uninstalled and reinstalled boxee removing the files in my ~/Library folder and the .app file to no avail.

What I think are the relevant portions of the logfile are as follows:

Anyone have any ideas? Something wrong with the remote translator?

are you running sofa control?

Nope, I don't even know what that is.

There has to be something going on in my home folder though. I created a new account and installed boxee there and the apple remote works perfectly.

Hmm...

Exact same thing happened to me too... clean fresh install on my brand new mac mini (1 hour old) and the apple remote is sudenly dead... and so is boxee... had to re-plug my keyboard to do a ctr alt esc and quit boxe... not responding.

strangest thing... the remote, as you said, works perfectly with frontrow!!

anyone know how to solve this??

thanks in advance for the help

It is likely that you have lost your remote pairing somehow. This happens to me occasionally, and the solution is always the same: un-pair and then re-pair the remote.

Press and hold Menu+Rewind for approx 5 seconds to un-pair.
Press and hold Menu+Ffwd for approx 5 seconds to pair (note that for some reason some Macbook/Pro's use Menu+Play to Pair)

My brand new mac mini doesnt pair or unpair with any of my 2 apple remotes...

Mind you that the remote works great on frontrow, so it really cant be a remote problem, can it? why should the remote freak out only with boxee?

i seem to have found a way around this: if I start using boxee with my mouse (trackball on a media center keyboard) for example to login in boxee and only then use my apple remote, as long as i NeVER touch the mouse again the apple remote works and wont crash.
The problem here is its a freaking trackball.... if i sit on the couch the ball ever so slightly moves and boxee crashes instantly.

Well, at least im enjoying my boxee with remote, even if i do have to do some weird proceadures.

Anyone have a better way to fix this? and can I help with any further details?

i have the same issue.

I can start boxee from my remote when always running is checked but once boxee is opened the remote ceases to work.

However if I turn of always running...my remote will work...but then I have to start boxee with my keyboard.

a solution would be nice but I really have no clue.

I am on an intel macbook running the latest version of boxee but have always had this problem with every version of boxee.
