Hi there,
I am new to Boxee and wanted to get some clarification.
Here is what I am intending to do.
Boxee is supposed to support UPnP protocol. I currently have a WinXP machine for downloading media, movies etc. If I install a UPnP server on the windows machine, will Boxee on an AppleTV setup be able to connect to the Windows server for streaming movies? Is it possible? I would appreciate any input you guys might have. Thanks!

hi
you can try to settings>Media sources>Network and find the server ..
You can manually add a source including upnp.
Go to Settings>Media Sources >Manually Add Source.
Enter the source Name and the source location (upnp:// to add a upnp source) and then check the correct media content.

I just purchased a D-Link DNS-323 2-bay network attached storage (NAS) device. This includes a UPnP AV server.
When using Boxee on my Macbook I cannot get it to see the NAS as a UPnP source. Boxee shows the SMB network share, but not the UPnP source.
I will test with another UPnP client to confirm the NAS is working.

Thanks a bunch guys for your insight. I'm getting my apple TV on Friday and will keep you guys posted if it works with a windows UPNP server. I was planning on using TombStone!

To save money you may as well get the 40GB Apple TV since you'll be storing files on your media server.
For the time being, I'm streaming content via my SMB network shares. I found a UPnP client that sees my UPnP server so I'll keep testing with Boxee to see if streaming over UPnP offers any other advantages.

Ok guys..So I finally installed Boxee this weekend on my ATV.
I download all my media on WinXP so I googled around and found Twonky as a UPNP based media server for WinXP. Boxee had no trouble locating my server on the network and instantly updated its library to reflect all my content. I still have to twiddle around and figure out how Boxee is organising my media under the Videos, Photos, Music etc section Not sure if it is a setting on the Media Server I have to specify or what. But thats all the update I have for now. Thanks guys for all your help!
