only STEREO sound with external USB soundcard

Hello!
First I want to say - Great program!

I'm using Mac Pro, OS X Leopard, and external USB soundcard.
It is 5.1 soundcard and it is using native Mac OS X drivers - so it is showing as
5.1 capable device in Audio/MIDI setup. All games and software working fine
with surround sound. When I'm playing movies with DTS or AC3 5.1 sound in
VLC player - all 6 channels working fine.
When I'm playing them with Boxee - I'm getting only STEREO sound.
No surround or middle channels..

What is the problem?

Terratec PHASE 26 USB, but it is not important - since it is using native OS X
driver model and OS X recognized it like a 5.1 device automatically.

You may already have done this, but just to be sure, you have to go into the Settings menu (on the left-side bar), then into the "System Settings" (I think), and there's a section called "Audio Hardware". You have to be sure to change it from "Analog" to "Digital", and then check the boxes for "AC3 Passthrough" and "DTS Passthrough" (if your surround sound equipment supports those things). Then you should get surround sound.

This works fine for me using a M-Audio Fasttrack Pro connected via USB, using one of the S/PIDF outputs.

I'm using analog surround sound. OS X sending each of 6 channels of audio to separate analog output of my soundcard.
