Error connecting to host using iPod touch remote

I've just downloaded boxee and the iPhone/iPod touch remote. Each time I try and connect the remote it has an error connecting. It finds a host, eg; xxxx.local, but it always fails after thinking about it.
Running MBP 10.4

Me too, running 0.9.11 on Linux.

Enable the webserver in Boxee (Settings -> Network)
make sure that there is no password assigned and is running on port 8800

Done all that, and the app sees the server, but when it tries to connect it says "Error connecting." :(
