I had this happen too; I was in CMD-TAB Window mode, had no prior login data, and was able to "login" without putting a user name in.

Will send you my log + .old log too...

This is a little known feature .. certain letters are used as shortcuts e.g if you enter the letter "A" or "a" prior to opening the (QWERTY)keyboard, it will open the left menu , specific combinations will allow you to enter boxee and see the page "Welcome, Master Use..." .You should make sure when you select the username /password fields in the login screen, the (QWERTY)keyboard is open and you are not writing in space...

That makes sense then, I was going for a "TAB" to bring up the user name field, and slipped and hit an "a"...

Does this screw things up for us users? Maybe we need to user check, or disable on first use...
