It's not the codec, it's the DRM that Apple wraps around the file that stops Boxee from playing it. The only way you can play it WITH the DRM is through iTunes. Apple does not allow anything to play it's DRM wrapped files other than iTunes / iPods and iPhones so don't hold your breath.

You can strip the DRM from the file but I don't think that should be discussed here in the Boxee forums.
