View Full Version : problems with recognising video correctly

I don't know how to label a video that is a special double episode e.g. episodes 1 and 2 so that Boxee recognises it as such.

I have tried to label videos to get it to recognize movies split into separate files correctly, but it hasn't worked for me. I've tried Movie(Year)_Part_1_of_3.ext, Movie_Part_1_of_3(Year).ext and a few other things but it doesn't work. It recognises which movie it is correctly but it stores the 3 files individually under a folder and won't go on from one file to the next automatically to give a good viewing experience.

You need to name your movie files -part1 and part2 or -CD1 and -CD2 (or a dot instead of a dash)

examples

DieHard-part1.avi
DieHard-part2.avi
ToyStory.part1.avi
ToyStory.part2.avi
UrbanLegend-CD1.avi
UrbanLegend-CD2.avi
X-Men.CD1.avi
X-Men.CD2.avi

I tried that and it didn't work. I don't like jokes about these kind of things. Either tell me the real way to do it or tell me that boxee can't do it if it can't.

I tried TitleOfFilm-part1.m4v and some of the others and it didn't work.

Also your post failed to mention how to take into account the year of the film so that it is recognised correctly. I need a solution that will work and one that will recognise it automatically so that if I need to rebuild my library Boxee will recognise things automatically. I don't have time to manually recognise stuff each time boxee decides it's going to clear my library of movies.

Boxee is great, but I would like to get movies split into multiple parts working.

Btw the movies are really tv miniseries but imdb treats each miniseries as one big film rather than tv episodes

It didn't work even adding manually. Adding manually it came up as if it was three versions of the exact same film, three files inside a folder. Rather than three parts of one film.

I guess I may need to use myDVDEdit to enable me to rip to one file.

ok this sounds like a bug but if you play the movie part 1 it should then automatically play part 2 and 3
