I have ripped some of my DVD's to play on Boxee. The .bup, .ifo and .vob files are placed in folders on an external drive.

Is there any way to get Boxee to recognise these movies and download art and info about them? Can I name the folders some way, or is it not possible to get art and info about DVD's ripped this way?

Use MakeMKV (http://www.makemkv.com/) (recommended) or VOB2MPG (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VOB2MPG) to rip the DVD's, they will extract & copy the movie to a .mkv or .mpg container and once named properly Boxee will scan the media files.

I tried to name the folders properly, and got the Boxee to identify the movies (more or less), but it wanted to play each VOB-file by itself.

So I tried MakeMKV, and it works like a charm :-)

So now I have ripped about 50 DVD's, and I have about 4-500 to go. I know what I am going to do the rest of the weekend.

Thanks for the answer anyway!
