Password required to install Boxee?

Why does Boxee use an installer instead of simply dragging it to the applications folder?

This required me to provide a password. How has boxee changed my system? How do I uninstall Boxee?

boxee installer just adds the app to the application folder (we added this issue of password due to issues in old versions of permissions)...see this thread (http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=17)if you want to unistall..:(
