I would like to see an option to load Boxee onto the "WDTV" device and/or the "Popcorn hour A-110" device. I know the WDTV device has no network port, but maybe if a lite version of Boxee was available just so we could use the media interface. Boxee is FAN-tastic, but buying a mac-mini is too expensive and the apple tv (which I have) can't handle the processing load required for smooth operation. I'm becoming way too frustrated with my apple tv and it's limitations.

Just some thoughts -

you can build a 300$ machine with higher capabilities than a mac mini.

that should be around 270$ then just add a blu-ray or dvd drive of your choice

personally, I can't wait for Nvidia's ION platform to become readily available.

I'm thinking lately this forum needs a hardware section (what you are currently running it on, thinking of buying, or otherwise).

XBOX 360 VGA box and other devices from Ishopvideogame, besides the charging devices and protective devices, you can find some other importand items for XBOX 360 here, VGA box is very useful and interesting thing for XBOX, it will accept any PAL or NTSC system video input and convert it into RGB output for any VGA monitor.

I use the Neuros LINK and it works great with Boxee. I paid $250 + 100 for the Logitech Dinova mini.

It is a great, flexible, option. I also added a terabyte drive, but that is not needed. It comes with a flash drive and great support from Neuros.

What operating system do you run on this? Ubuntu? Did you have any issues with drivers?

It is a nice HTPC platform, but the only advantage I see, is size of form factor and the energy usage.
A NVIDIA chipset + intel core2duo setup is almost the same price and far better performance. (the 9400M IGP also has hardware accelerator decoding)

Sheeeesh. People can put together a HTPC for cheap out of spare parts these days. Mine consists of:

Amd Athlon XP 3200 processor
DFI Ultra Infiniti II mobo (AGP)
Nvidia 6300 card with s-video out
1 gig corsair memory
1 TB hitachi hard drive (~$90 new at local retailer)
Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex OS

The motherboard, processor, ram, and video card was from a computer that was over five years old. Probably available for less than $100 on craigslist. The biggest investment was the $90 for the hard drive.

It's not like people are not able to do it by themselves.
I for one, liked building PCs a few years ago. Nowadays I prever to avoid any contact with PCs :).
I'm quite happy with my iMac. That's why I am considering a MacMini as HTPC. But I'm still unsure because of the price. The MacMini is almost too powerful for this job. I was hoping for Nvidia Ion machines, but unfortunately the first device that came out is too weak for Flash due to it's processor.
Same goes for the Asus Box 206 (I'm waiting for the 208 now).

The cheapest solution is very likely with a Ubuntu box. But then I'd have to search the net for compatible hardware and for drivers, which then have to work properly for Boxee and stuff. It's a painful process, if you don't want to invest.

I'd love to see boxee on the new wdtv live.
