I have been running Boxee on my iMac for a while now and I love it. I am on the brink of changing my technology life on its head and Boxee at the forefront.
One problem. I have 3 separate TV's I want to connect Boxee to (and I don't want to carry around a laptop).
Is the Apple TV the cheapest device out there to run Boxee on? Is there anything cheaper? Keep in mind what ever the cost is would be X3.

I am also very interested in this. I am looking to get rid of my costly cable bill and would like something to put in it's place to stream stuff to my TV and boxee seems to be at the cutting edge of such things, but money is tight and I would like to know what kind of options are out there.

I think your looking for a front-end / backend machine.
http://arstechnica.com/hardware/guides/2008/04/guide-200804.ars (of course they selected some way overpriced items)
which would in all be three machines, or two and designate one to be the backend/frontend
not sure if its possible with boxee to set something up like this but Im sure it will be of higher performance than an apple tv (maybe you could even build the front end machines for less)
-----------
are you looking for hdmi and 1080i/p? or just something small enough to run about the same performance as an apple tv.
