ATV USB Creator and Boxee

Hello, I was just invited to the Alpha and I can't wait to try this software on my Apple TV however I have run into a bit of a snag.

I followed the guides here: http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?p=2921#post2921 and attempted to make my very own patchstick but the instructions have me a bit confused.

At #3 am I allowing the software to download the dmg or am I selecting the boxee dmg that I downloaded. If its the first the download never starts and if its the second it appears to hang on Extracting boot.efi and won't go further.

Or worse still am I totally lost?

Appears I might have been a bit quick to jump the gun here. I tried it again with a different USB stick I had and now the dmg is downloading just fine.

What I want to know is that since the atvusb-creator is so way out of date with the versions, can I download Boxee separately and replace the files on the patchstick before installing everything on AppleTV?? It sure would save me a lot of time on the AppleTV side of things.
