When playing avi movie video's boxee will only output via the internal speaker on my mac pro.
I have the settings menu selected to use my external firewire card for output.
I am using a M-Audio Audiophile Firewire external sound card.
When playing tv shows on Hulu they play through the external card as expected.

i stopped my video.
went back to the settings, and it had reverted to builtin.
i configed it again to external firewire. then exited. went back in, it had retained the setting.
now it is playing on external.
seems like a bug that it doesnt take immediate effect when configuring the sound device.

do the developers check these forums?
or is there a formal mechanism for submitting a bug report?

Cant get sound to play through my USB headphones on a Macbook Pro: sound for movies will only play thru built-in speakers. System Pref displays sound output selected for headphones.

Having a similar problem...
I get the interface sounds fine - example choosing a selection, up, down etc
Every other app plays sound fine - but when I play a video - any video, no sound at all....
I have set System/Audio settings to the line out the speaker is connected to, the same choice in Audio prefpane... but when I check a now playing video audio settings, it says built-in speaker.
Nothing I can do get's it to play video audio...
