View Full Version : Hi bitrate HD mkv audio sync issue.
September 30th, 2008, 08:43 AM
I'm having an issue playing some files. Specifically 2+ gig 40min files streamed over nfs. If I stream them and play it through VLC every few minutes there is a slight skip but it returns to normal quickly and the audio never gets out of sync.
In boxee the video seems to speed up and the audio slow down. (or the other way around, im at work right now and can't double check) If vlc is able to play without these issues its not my hardware.
Anyone else have this problem?

Nothing there seems to help. I can't figure it out. I tried the videos in mplayer and that played even better then VLC did. Sound never went out of sync in vlc or mplayer only boxee. So I know the transfer rate is high enough to watch over nfs (patched in, no wifi). Changing the vertical black sync setting off and on didn't seem to change anything that I could notice. The videos start out spot on then after a few seconds the video slows down and gets out of sync with audio. As the video progresses so does the gap between audio and video.

Should I turn pulseaudio off? Maybe thats an Issue? I don't understand why mplayer and vlc can play these files fine but its practically unwatchable in boxee...
Any more ideas?

Just to update this for anyone having similar issues... moved boxee off my laptop and onto my desktop, no further issues with playback. So most likely it was my older laptop having issues keeping up with 720 over the network.
