I have spent 6 hours straight trying to install boxee on my Apple Tv. Not as easy as i thought. I followed the various youtube vidz thanks to IBog. however i ran into several issues. first flash drives. its damn picky with brands. then issues came up with establishing a shared network. i had to completely disable my firewall in order to finally resolve connection issues. (note: i'm using a Macbook)
finally Boxee is up and running. smooth playback of avi files. streams are great. watching online video is easy. I would like to see an option to receive a hi def 480p streams from Hulu.com, standard Def just looks terrible on my HDTV. I was a bit disappointed i couldnt play back 720p mkv files! they were slow and choppy, i cant even imagine trying 1080p! This issue can be resolved by taking more advantage of Apple Tv's Hardware acceleration.
they did put a Gpu in there for a reason guys.... because a 1ghz super processor cant cut it. If boxee supports hardware acceleration I think we can really push the ATV further!
